Insights From Three Outstanding Students

Each month we feature several of our outstanding students so that you can get insight on what helps them succeed while balancing work, family, life, and studies. This month we are proud to highlight Tiana Rogers, Suzanna Harrison, and Candice Regan, three students who have shown what is possible through focus, discipline, and determination. All three have earned a 4.0 GPA while balancing school, work, family, and personal responsibilities.

Their journeys remind us that academic success is not about perfection. It is about commitment, consistency, and continuing to move forward even when life gets busy.

How do you balance life, family, work, and doing well at school?

Tiana: “Balancing two jobs, my family and school is difficult, but I couldn’t do it without the help and support of my parents and my partner! They have been able to step in when my schedule gets hectic and lighten the load so I can fully participate in school.”

Suzanna: “Managing life, work, family and studies, Priorities! I make sure that each day I do some form of homework and get ahead if at all possible. Learn the material, don’t try to memorize. Take time for yourself, When I have downtime, I rest and catch up on sleep.”

Candice: “Balancing school, family, and everyday responsibilities can definitely be challenging, so I try not to overwhelm myself by thinking about everything at once. I focus on what I need to accomplish that day and remind myself that consistency is more important than perfection.”

What insights would you share with fellow students?

Tiana: “Some insights I would share are to rearrange your time. There are 24 hours in the day and studying doesn’t have to be at conventional times. Also, take time for yourself. It’s important to have fully hands-off days so you don’t overwork yourself.”

Suzanna: “My support system at home is everything. My husband has taken over most everything around the house. He is my #1 supporter, always lifting me up and pushing me to be the best that I can be. I could not do this without him.”

Candice: “Having people who encourage me, understand the time and effort school requires, and remind me of what I’m working toward makes a big difference. There have definitely been moments when balancing everything has been difficult, but knowing I have people supporting me helps me to keep pushing forward.”

What would you say to anyone considering attending CCI?

Tiana: “I would tell anyone who is considering attending CCI to not wait. The time will pass whether you’re furthering your education or not. Might as well start now! CCI is a great school with amazing instructors who actually care about your success.”

Suzanna: “Keep your focus, remember why you are there and take it one day at a time, one assignment at a time. You’re only going to get out what you put into it. Your goal is to be a nurse, so be the best nurse you can be.”

Candice: “My biggest piece of advice would be to believe in yourself and don’t give up when things get difficult. Starting a new program can be intimidating, and there will be days when you question whether you can do it. Keep showing up, ask for help when you need it, and remember why you started. The hard days are part of the journey, and every step forward is getting you closer to the goal you started with.”

Congratulations to Tiana, Suzanna, Candice, and every student recognized on this list. Your hard work sets an example for the entire CCI community.
