How to Obtain Your VN License in California

When you enter a vocational school like CCI, you’ll work toward earning a diploma that puts you on a direct track to a restricted career such as nursing. To qualify for an VN license in California and become a licensed professional, you must:

  • Meet the state’s Board of Vocational Nursing requirements.
  • Complete the necessary education and training at an approved licensed vocational nursing program.
  • Pass the National Council Licensure Exam for Licensed Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN).

Registration and certification requirements for taking and passing these examinations are not controlled by CCI, but by outside agencies, and are subject to change by the agency without notice. Therefore, CCI cannot guarantee that graduates will be eligible to take these exams, at all or at any specific time, regardless of their eligibility status upon enrollment.

At CCI, you’ll learn from our experienced nursing educators and gain clinical experience at one of the many healthcare organizations we partner with.

After successful completion of our part-time VN program, you will be prepared to sit for the NCLEX-PN and advance to the next step in your nursing career. Plus, our Career Services team offers career placement support for a seamless transition from program to practice.
