Learning That Extends Beyond the Classroom

At California Career Institute, education extends beyond quizzes, midterms, and the classroom. We believe some of the most meaningful learning experiences happen when students have the opportunity to take the skills they are developing and use them to serve the community.

CCI at the City of Irvine’s Healthy Living Expo

CCI was proud to participate in the City of Irvine’s annual Healthy Living Expo, a free resource fair for older adults held on Friday, September 25, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lakeview Senior Center.

Our Vocational Nursing and Diagnostic Medical Sonography students engaged directly with members of the community. Throughout the event, students put their training into action by:

  • Assisting with vital signs
  • Providing mobile sonography scanning experiences
  • Interacting with attendees and answering questions
  • Gaining valuable hands-on experience in a community setting

Experience a Textbook Can’t Replicate

For our students, opportunities like the Healthy Living Expo provide something a textbook simply cannot replicate. They are able to practice communicating with people from different backgrounds, strengthen their confidence, work alongside their classmates, and experience firsthand what it means to use their healthcare education in service to others.

An Incredible Response From the Community

The enthusiasm was evident throughout the day. Our booth remained busy as visitors stopped by to learn more, participate, ask questions, and meet the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Just as importantly, our students had an amazing time sharing what they have learned and connecting with the Irvine community.

Thank You to the City of Irvine

California Career Institute would like to extend a special thank you to Russell Frankston and the City of Irvine for inviting CCI to participate in this year’s Healthy Living Expo. Community partnerships like these provide our students with valuable experiences while giving CCI an opportunity to contribute to the communities we serve.

We are grateful to have been part of such a positive event and look forward to continuing to build relationships with the City of Irvine and other community organizations. We hope this is just the beginning of many more opportunities for CCI students to learn, serve, and make a difference throughout our local communities.

When education and community come together, everyone benefits.
