Professional Skills Alongside Clinical Training
Completing a Medical Assistant program is one part of starting a healthcare career. Presenting yourself well to an employer is another. California Career Institute’s career services team works with students on that second part throughout their program.
At CCI, building a student’s professional development goes beyond their medical assisting skills. Throughout the academic year, students have access to a team of dedicated and experienced professionals whose role is to help make the move from classroom to employment as smooth as possible.
Resume Assistance
Resume creation, development, and revision are available to any student at any point in their program. Career services hosts multiple workshops throughout the year and also offers individual assistance, where students work directly with CCI career professionals and receive feedback on their own experience.
Students have access to:

- Personalized resume input and assistance
- Workshops covering the important topics
Whether a student has never written a resume before or needs help making years of experience read more clearly, the support is the same.
Interview Practice
Interviews can be one of the more stressful parts of a job search, particularly for students who are new to healthcare. Professional development often requires students to represent themselves thoroughly to future employers, and CCI career services offers:
- Workshops to practice commonly sought interview skills
- One-on-one training
- Skills-building on forming connections and building relationships
Networking and Employer Connections
Medical Assistant students gain practical experience inside medical office settings during their 200-hour externship. Alongside that, networking opportunities are available to all students, and CCI’s career services professionals maintain relationships with local employers to help facilitate those connections.
Support That Starts Early
Career services are not something students turn to only at the end of their program. Support is available throughout, so that by the time a student finishes their externship, their resume, interview skills, and professional network are already taking shape.
