A Program Designed Around Real Schedules

Most people considering a move into healthcare are not starting from an empty calendar. They have jobs, families, and responsibilities that do not pause for school. California Career Institute built its Medical Assistant program with that reality in mind.

The program uses a hybrid format. Theory coursework is completed online, while hands-on skills training happens on campus. Students get the flexibility of online learning without giving up the practical instruction that medical assisting requires.

How the Hybrid Format Works

  • Online theory. Coursework in areas such as medical terminology, pharmacology, law and ethics, and administrative procedures is delivered online.
  • On-campus skills labs. Clinical techniques including EKG, phlebotomy, injections, and vital signs are practiced in person.
  • Supervised externship. A 200-hour placement at an approved healthcare facility completes the program.

Forty Weeks, Start to Finish

The Medical Assistant diploma program runs 40 weeks and totals 35 credit hours. Students complete seven core modules, a professional development module, and their externship in under a year.

CCI also holds classes during the daytime and the evening, giving working students room to build a schedule that works for them.

Support Beyond the Coursework

CCI is a student-centered school, and students have access to academic advising, career counseling, and technical support throughout their program. Instructors bring professional experience in the fields they teach, so students can ask not only about the material but about what the work looks like after graduation.

Who the Format Suits

The hybrid structure tends to work well for students who are employed while they study, managing family responsibilities, or returning to education after time away. Because no previous healthcare experience is required to enroll, it also suits people making a first move into the medical field.

Enrollment and Campuses

The Medical Assistant program is offered at CCI’s Anaheim campus in Orange County and its Hawthorne campus in the South Bay and Los Angeles area. Rolling enrollment means new class start dates every month, so students can apply when the timing is right for them.

California Career Institute is accredited by ACCET and approved by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education. Federal, state, and private financial aid options are available to those who qualify.
